Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has partnered with the National Union of Women with Disabilities of Uganda (NUWODU) to equip girls and women Persons with Disabilities with digital skills.
As part of this collaboration, a high level round table discussion was organised at the Skyz Hotel in Naguru recently. The focus of the roundtable was to harmonise efforts geared towards bridging the digital gap for girls and women with disabilities.
The roundtable attracted key stakeholders in the PWD space, including Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, UN Women, Aga Khan Foundation, BRAC Uganda and National Council of Disabilities.
This kind of engagement is in line with UCC/ RCDF’s thematic area of research and advocacy with RCDF policy III guidelines. ICT devices were given to various leaders and PWD activists countrywide to enable them use and promote ICT among girls and women with disabilities without cost barriers.
The UCC/RCDF Head Technical Services Geoffrey Ssengendo represented UCC at the event.
